About
I live on a small hobby farm, close to Fraser Island, in Hervey Bay, Queensland, Australia.
I am teaching myself how to retire without a superannuation fund.
The simple answer is do not retire.
The longer answer is to enjoy my work by remembering that if you can earn an income by doing something you really enjoy, you will never work another day in your life.
So that is my quest. I am hoping that with the help of fellow minded people, we can record our journey of discovery about how to work with Mother Nature rather than against Her. Already I am discovering how many services she delivers free of charge; a cooling breeze, a shady tree, the sun’s energy, an abundant range of foodstuffs, fibre for clothing, solar hot water, photoelectric energy, pure rainwater, and so the list goes on.
With reflective observation and gentle respect we can all learn to conserve our beautiful planet and although we may not have a lot of money, we need never feel poor. For me this takes the form of spending half my day gardening and taking care of my farm and the rest of the day in my office assisting people by phone and over the internet.
On the computing side of things, I have a Bachelor Degree in Science with a Postgraduate Diploma in Computing. I am also Certified (IV) in Training and Workplace Assessment.
I have also had a long career in adult education and teaching people how to use their computers and get the most out of the internet.
I now have the time to keep up with the latest trends in internet communication. I am fascinated by the power of the social internet to replace our dependence on the motor car with a more astute use of these modern means of communication in order to deal with peak oil and rising fuel prices.
Looking to the future I have faith in our ability to adapt the potential of the internet to the demands of our environment and create exciting new community based lifestyles which deliver the best that Mother Nature has to offer.
